I want to set up a drip system or something similar on my 518 gallon tank, but i don't know how to go about doing it consdering i am running overflows for my sump, i am worried that if i was just dripping water into the tank it would just flood my sump instead of going through the other overflow for the drip system???? Any ideas????. i guess i could put an overflow on my sump, but it sits right on the floor so it may be difficult.

anyone have any ideas???

The water level will fluctuate in your sump, so if you install a float switch to activate a pump when the level gets high it will maintain an acceptable range. When the water gets high, it turns the pump on, and when it gets back down to a predetermined lower level it will shut it off. Here is an old thread of the one I'm using. It has worked flawlessly since I installed it.

Yeah, youll have to put the overflow/drain in the sump or use a pump, since the water level should not change in the main tank. You could setup a simple overflow drain in the sump and drip water in, or what I have done is setup a daily water change cycle that will drain the sump down to a float switch set about 20g or a timer (failsafe) and then fill it back up until either the float valve stops it or the timer(failsafe).
