DIY battery vac

I have a battery operated water pump like the one shown here:

My plan is to make a vac out of it like the eheim one (which is a rip at $60) to clean up after mr Pleco since he poops so much
I will update my progress, anyone else tackled such a venture?

I use it all the time.
Kind of addicting.
So easy to use, every time I see a pile-O-poo, I get it out.
Prices are about the same, but maybe the one you are looking at has more suction..or not.

1/2in CPVC fittings fit the tube to make it longer.
