Does anyone know anything about or have any experience with bricks ponds? Trying to diy a cheap monster enclosure for my big cats during the winter, when I stumbled upon the idea of building a pond using the existing structure of my cement block basement and basically boxing off a corner off it with a 3ft brick wall? Obviously using a solid coat of sealant! Any thoughts?

If you are only going three feet you may just want to consider buying a small pool to set up down there. I don't know your budget but it might be cheaper than all the work prepping, coating, and sealing the brick - not to mention the brick for the wall and supplies.

I think a plywood tank with insulating boards and liner will be the best in terms of heating cost and function. I saw the website of Custom H2O and got some good ideas. They are in New York too, and I know it is cold there. Heating cost will be a big issue. Dimensions can be designed for your purpose.
