DIY Calcium Reactor

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well for all my diy projects i want to do, first thing i do is look at the unit i would like to get then i look at all the specs, check out other brand and collect pictures, measurments and diagrams. then i draw what i want to make in a part by part drawing, to be able to do this you need to read and fully understand how the object you will be building works. I then make a part by part list, i check the net for the best prices on the parts and then make a total. now that you have plans just order materials and build away!
with this thechnique i now have detailed plans and estimates for:
-protein skimmer
-fbf
-sock filter
-uv stereliser
-bio tower
-complete filtration systems
(all these rated for at least 1000g sw system) sorry man but i dont have plans for calcium reactor but try this and see what you can come up with.

i have made a few they are very easy but will cost u about a 100 bux the simplist is a presision marine the easiest way is look at this one in person all it consisit of is a capped tube i used 6" pvc with a toilet flange for the bottom and a tredded cap for the top about 3" off the bottom drill and tap for a 1/2" npt have a piece of pipe come out of ot maybe 1" at the end put a 4 way splitter 2 of the holes u will have to glue 1/4 jon guest fittings in the other one goes to the input of your pump 1 jon guest comes from your tank the other other comes from your bubble counter (the co2) the out put of the pump returnes to the top of the reactor. On the top of the reactor you have to have 2 holes 1 is a 1/2 npt for the return for the pump the other is a 1/4 npt for a jon guest fitting with a valve that goes back to the tank inside the reactor all you need is a piece of eggcrate that fits inside the tube with a piece of pvc to hold it up above the inlet on the bottom of the camber on top of this you want a piece of foam then your media on top of that hope this helps pm me if have any Qs.
