So i recently constructed a canister filter from a powerhead, bulkheads, and i watertight container. The powerhead is normally silent, but it makes a weird noise while in the canister . If i take it out it is fine. It is a 350gph powerhead, and only pumping up 1 foot. Its the perfect current for my 20g, but the noise is bad. Has anyone had this problem, and how did you fix it? Thanks.

Wrap your powerhead with flat scrub pads or surround it round scrubbies. Your powerhead might be vibrating and hitting up against the sides of your canister. This will provide some cushion and act as bio media also. My RIO 2100 is completely silent in the canister. Dont forget to put some on the bottom.
