im settng up my own Canister,
i have a doubt, Should i pump the water TO THE canister FROM the Aquarium, or should i use gravity for it, and pump the water FROM the Canister TO the aquarium?
what is suggested?
and how big should my canister be,for a 90 g tank?(approx.)

A pressure canister is a closed system. It Doesn't matter if you put the pump before the canister or after it will suck water from the tank and then push it back into the tank. Putting the pump before the canister will make it easier to prime the canister and get it flowing.

If you are talking about a sump it is an open system. Usually supplied by gravity and pumped back into the aquarium.

All filters have to be cleaned. The goal for a DIY filter should be to make cleaning as easy as possible. Sumps are usually easier to clean and change the filter media than canister filters. The easier a filter is to clean the more often you will be apt to clean it and remove the Debris before they break down to Nitrates. Huge pressure canister filters may allow you to drastically increase the time between filter cleanings... but this will allow a lot of debris to break down to Nitrates and then you will have to deal with the Nitrates (Water changes).

Depends on what your using for your can.
The majority either try 5g buckets or large diameter PVC.
In the different filters I`ve tried, most all the time I had the pump “pull” water through the filter.
No “pressure” issues to fret over and the pump wouldn`t get jammed by my fish spitting sand into the filters intake.
I`ll add that the odds of you making a reliable, trouble free, DIY can are not good.
Take a look at all the others who thought, “heck, I can make one cheaper”, only to find that not quite true.
Give it a go, who knows, your`s might work well.
Good luck.

Looks almost exactly like my top filter:
