Hi Hi =^_^=

Im new/newb to stuff like this, but it looks fun to experiment and get into.

This Idea taken from somewhere.. =S i forgot where... =D but i just added and changed something.. im sure someone already thought of this before me...

Basically itz kinda like a how should i say this... Canisterfilter Sump Lock & Lock Tupperware Sump which i would like to add in order to increase the volume or water and circulation of water in the mini tank.. something to make up for the small amount of water volume in the tank.. I dont intend to put any much media in it.. cept for maybe some live sand or live rock rubble in the bottom which i will never ever touch once this thing is running... cuz i wont ever have to open this tupperware unless something seriousely goes wrong.. =^___^=

=^_^=

Instead of having water flow down or siphon down using a tube.. itz the other way around and iam using a pump to bring water down to the Tupperware and as it fills up the water is pushed up the return pipe/tube and trickles back into the tank. =D

What i worry about is that what happens if the power goes out.. will the water in the in the canister-sump continue to siphon back in the tank..

OR...

will it stop the flow... and not continue.. becuase the intake pump is not pushing water in?
(Note the Canister-Sump will located at the bottom lower than the tank)

Should i Place umm one of those Check valves somewhere in the hose, if so let me know where =^_^=

Im hoping to find a tupperware bigger or as big as the tank... 8 gal nano =D

umm there isnt room for an over flow.. and itz kinda too late to add an over flow lol... so im just experimenting with this idea.

This is my first time doing something like this, i have LFS owner that can help me out with the piping and sealing of this contraption just incase i do something wrong =^__^=

Any help would be most appriciated =^_^=

Hi
Sounds like you may be putting the tupperware under too much pressure. That´s the reason all canister filters suck the water out of the canister. If the filter gets too dirty the tupperware container will need to cope with the full pressure of the pump. I wouldn´t recommend building the system like you´re planning for this reason.

hmm ive seen this been done before but with a smaller tupper ware lock & lock brand... the clams held the lid securly and the pump was not that strong of a flow.

and i dont plant on putting really any media in this container.. cept for maybe lil bit of live sand and maybe some rubble but all that will be on the floor.. or if media would be an issue towards it not functioning properly then take out the media.. and it will just be a container of water.

and if that tupper ware does not work then we can always use an indutriallized bin something similar to those 5 gal maintenace bucket.. where the lid has a leak profseal and with metal cables holding the lid from poping. I think those can with stand the pressure.. itz alot stronger than a lock and lock tupperware and those lock and locks can be pretty strong.... perhaps a dollar store tupperware might not be as good to used for this project.. maybe 5gal sqaure like industrial container with supper tight water and air lid with metal cables.. and and... well make sute we have a well placed gasket =^_^=

I wouldnt need to really open this canister thing cuz im not really going to put media in it.. simple just to increase the volume of water in the system =^_^=

any one else? *Bumps* *Bumps* =^_^=

Any one else =^_^=?
