So how effective is this diffusing method? The bubbles are very small to begin with prior to being sucked into the intake. To give you an idea of the scale that is a whisper 10 intake.

ha thats pretty neat! theres lots of ways to diffuse co2. smaller tanks would probably benefit from this. on larger tanks, youll want to run a large external reactor. ive noticed the latest trend is to diffuse is via a needle wheel. what you do is take a regular pump that works externally, like the eheim or quiet one pumps and modify the impeller. your either cut a bunch of slits in it or make lots of tiny holes in the blades. then feed the co2 line directly into the inlet. this chops up the co2 bubbles really good. Tom Barr uses this method on his tanks now.

The down side to this method is that your co2 is getting gassed off when the filter returns it to the tank.

Yeah I have been wondering how much is actually gassing off as it gets returned. I would really like to find an easy/attractive/cheap option that looks better primarily the nice thing about this way is that it is very easily hidden and doesn't take much effort to setup. I might try a powerhead/vaccum tube diffuser next though to see how that works out.
