I placed a limewood diffuser inside a little decorative hut/house thing. I drilled a very small hole in the top of the hut.

I see the tiny bubbles coming out of the diffuser, then nothing coming out of the hut for a while (i imagine as they collect on the inside of the roof)... then every so often a BIG bubble from the hut through the hole i drilled at the top.

my question is this, is the co2 being absorbed into the water the whole time the bubbles are sitting in the hut?

i can't tell if this is a really efficient or really terrible way to get CO2 into my water, lol.

after about 45min, it switched to a stream of little bubbles from the top of the hut... i'm wondering if i should put anything to mashup the bubbles under the hole in the hut

You dont really have to put the diffuser into the hut, its a diffuser and it should be getting the job done. The reason im guessing you put it in the hut is for decorative reasions to you dont see the diffuser and maybe for added benefit of co2 diffusing into the water. The should be helping a little, but if its for decorative reasons and you have DIY, you can jsut put the hose striaght into the filter intake(Without the diffuser), if you have a hang on back filter of coarse. The filter propeller will break up the bubbles into the water, i have great success with it, just make sure you get good filtration even after you put the hose into the intake because it could cut the filtration down a little and do it only if you have enough filtration.

it was for decorative reasons, but the more i thought about it, i realized there might be an effect on the co2 by putting it in there. just wasn't sure if it was a good or bad effect.

i didn't realize you could put the hose into a HOB filter... on my 75gal tank i have it going into my FX5 and it works great.

thanks for the advice!
