Every article I've read about DIY CO2 says to place the diffuser as close as possible to the filter intake, to help with displacement through the water.
My question is this; since the intake takes the water up and through the filter before placing it back into the aquarium, wouldn't a lot of the CO2 then be just placed into the atmosphere instead of the tank?
Or, is there an assumption that the CO2 will be immediately taken up by the water, and therefore not lost in the air?
(Sorry if I've misspoken on any of the technical terms!)
Thanks all!
