Okay, first thread here, but I'll try to make this make sense.

I want to build a corner fishtank with stand in my diningroom. I'm looking at a pentagon/hexagon style tank. I'd like the tank to start from 24 to 36 inches off the floor and have the tank be 36 inches deep. I want the back flat so there is a triangular void up the wall so that I can run all the cords / hoses through there. I want one sheet of glass or acrylic across the front.

What I'm trying to decide is:

One piece or two piece construction?

Do I need to fiberglass the joints?

Can I do acrylic 36" deep? Should I go with glass?

Since this is a small (I'm figuring about 30 gallon) tank, do I need to add bottom jets to keep the water well mixed?

Would a hang on the back power filter be adequate?

I'll try to pos pics tomorrow. I've got some of it drawn in Solidworks.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Rick

im confused.... looking foward to pics

In that size range it would be far cheaper for you to buy a ready made tank and a nicer bow front at that where you would save the money is making a nice sturdy stand how to make a bow stand i couldnt tell you but i'm sure it would make a fun project a flat panel stand would be simply but myself prefer the look of bows for a corner tank i have 55 tucked into a wasted corner of my living room that hardly uses any space at all hope this saves you some trouble..

So far, it sits 24" off the floor and the tank is 36" deep. I could go with either a hang on the back power filter or add a sump in the bottom of the stand.

Let me know what you think.

A HOB would work well IMO
