DIY eheim double tap connectors

i just recently got a eheim 2260 and i see that it doesnt come with tap connectors. i have looked at some stores and they are pretty expensive for plastic. i have thought of an idea to make tap connectors, what do you think?

Add some IP to barb fittings on each end of the PVC, and 2 hose clamps, and you will be set.

How would you pull them apart after the shutoff valves were closed?

I assumed the PVC connector was a threaded pvc union, which has a threaded center for seperation.

Just wondering because I was hoping this diy project included a 'quick disconnect' feature like Eheims double tap.

yes, the quick disconnect would be the pvc union in-between the two ball valves for easy screwing on and off when needed.

Check EBay for the eheim taps, I got a 16/22mm tap for a 1/4 of the price of one in a shop.

My experience with the PVC union is that it is not water tight and it annoyingly drips. I do hope you find me wrong though.
