Was wondering if anyone had any plans for something that could have a pump feeding a 5 or 10 gallon sized system that then feeds back into the sump. My water params are spot on, but with going from reef to freshwater catfish, the constant floaties in the tank are driving me nuts. Sump wise I am running a ProClear 400 on this specific tank (125) so I don't have a ton of room in the pump section. Or if anyone knows of a filter pad that can is 12" wide and can be cut to length, I've been using one of amazon and while it foes good, its a far cry from the glass like clarity I had with my reef tanks.

The idea I had was something around a 10 gallon size with polisher pads in baffles to hopefully clarify some. I had been feeding FT but recently tried massivore so this may be part of it as well.

Suggest you go with a Pentair RTL-25 filter and set it up closed loop off your tank. RTL filters are reef keepers best kept secret for mechanical filtration. When we got our 300 gallon tank, I had no idea what to do for mechanical filtration. The tank builder (Midwest Custom Aquatics) found a Pro-Clear 300 wet/dry filter online which we purchased for biological filtration. I contacted a man who set up and maintained fish tanks in professional offices. He is the one who introduced us to RTL filters. He sold us two RTL-25 filters and a Reeflo pump. This is the picture he gave us of one of his set ups.

This is how we set up our RTLs

I love, love love RTLs and wouldn't run a tank without them. I have purchased six RTL-100s to run on the big tank which is not set up.

oftalmos runs RTLs on his 765 gallon tank

And there is one other MFK member that I know of running RTLs. They can be found in huge reef builds on Reef Central. The reef guys have always been light years ahead of fresh water enthusiasts.

RTLs are actually spa/pool filters that the reefers picked up for mechanical filtration. There is at least one aquatic company which now sells cartridge replacements. https://www.customaquatic.com/estore/control/product/~product=FI-RLR173429

Filters and cartridges can be purchased on Amazon and many spa vendors.
