DIY Filter Cartridges For Most Brands

I didn't feel like going through the trouble to type it all again especially since my mom is bugging me to get off the computer, so here is a link to the other forum where I told them how to make filter cartridges.

you can sandwich the floss (bulk cut to size) between 2 of the plastic carriers that you have from the removed carbon.. trim the floss & modify the openings to a better pattern. mine has 8 openings.. kind of like a window.

LOL!! I didn't know that you posted that!! lol!! I just wanted a cheaper way to make cartridges for my Whisper and Millennium filters. One cartridge for my Millennium 2000 is $4.83 at the lfs. A 1 pack Whisper cartridge is $3.56. Outrageous, especially since I have to replace weekly.

You can take them to the kitchen sink (when your mom isn't looking) and rinse them with the sprayer. They come out like brand new. I have some that are going on a year old.

Mine got so gunked up that it was impossible to do that. It is just less hassle for me to replace them.

When I buy them it's gotta be in bulk like a buck to a buck-fifty for each of them. Penguin 170/200/330/350 (size c/3) I would go through 10 a week if I changed them weekly.

Check ebay once in a while you can pick up a 24 pack for 25 bucks

I try to buy them in bulk, of I can, but a 4 pack of millennium cartridges is $23.95 and a 12 pack of Regular Size Whisper Bio-Bags are $38.99. Outrageous!!
