Alright I've been using this pond filter for a few months now and it works great at pulling out silt and stuff knocked up by the turtles and fish messing in the sand of my pond. However that's the only thing its good at its too wide with too small of a pump to really trap anything to the top so I gotta scoop all the other stuff out.

Here's a couple pics of the filter to get an idea of what I have to work with. I'd preferably like to spend nothing to almost nothing to modify it or make a new one outta what I have/have around the house and don't want to cut anything that's part of the filter apart that way if it doesn't work I can put it back together at no loss.

This one is slightly different but pretty close the only major difference is that mine has bio balls and the pump

I was thinking of something along the lines of a home made canister filter? if that's possible. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah, try a bigger pump and rearrange the flow to catch particulates better.

These things are terrible. I hope you figure out a cheap way to make it better so I can take mine out of storage again.

Looks to me like you could turn that thing into a Bakki Shower.

hard to tell from the pic but it looks like its only open on th top? if thats the case I would drill a hole and install a bulk head on the bottom, put an egg create over that, and fill with bio matrix. This way the water being pumped out has no choice but to flow through the bio media.

Feel free to ship it to me I will make something out of it.

You could also turn it into an over-tank filter. I have an over-sump and love it! Many people on here have Over-head filters. Very efficient and nearly failproof.

Do want it to act as a skimmer too???
I just want it to actually catch debris instead of having to sit in there with the hose during water changes and suck up a ton of stuff and know I didn't get it all
