I am currently in the middle of making my own pellet foods for my vulture catfish, stingray, and pbass. The recipe is as follows...
Green Beans- 1/3 cup
Beef Heart- 1 cup
Krill- 1/2 cup
Scallops 1/2
Brine Shrimp 1/4 cup
Earth Worms 1/4
Flour 25% of total mixture above
Garlic Powder- 1 tablespoon
Multivitamins - 4 crushed up
This is my recipe for meat lovers. I have been very successful with this mix, I am even tempted to even add v8 juice to it in my next batch. completely customizable, and healthy for all fish. No cloudy water or soggy pellets.
Procedure:
Blend beans, heart, krill, scallops, brine shrimp, worms together with a little added water.
Crush vitamins in a plastic baggy and add garlic powder, once a powder reblend.
add flour to 25% of the total volume of the premade mixture and mix with a spoon
Put entire mixture in a zip lock bag, cut the corner, make long rows of the mixture on a cookie sheet
set oven to 350F cook repeatedly until dry, and cut into pellet size pieces.
My fish go crazy for this, and all ingredients can be found at your Asian supermarket. This batch costs about 10$ and will lasts for a couple months to feed monster fish. Let me know if you have a recipe you like using, or if you have had success with mine. An alternative to baking the mix, is to use unflavored knox jello, and make a jello fish food. Both methods are awesome!
