I have been making a list of everything to add to my DIY fish food for my piranhas .. so far I have shrimp, peas, carrots, goose meat (similar to beef) , mackerel, and some leftover turtle pellets (figured I might as well use them up)

1- I am thinking of adding some salmon eggs since they are starting to run up the rivers now .. anyone use them for feeding or is it a bad idea??

2- I was also thinking of using some chicken .. not sure if its beneficial or not??

3- I was also thinking of using cuddle bone as a calcium supplement??

thanks for any replies

mackerel meat is a little to oily for aquarium use...

Salmon roe is very high in protein and HDL cholesterol. It is supposed to be healthy for humans; I would guess it is also good for fish.

dont feed goose meat or chicken, piranhas digestive sytems arent meant to handle poultry. the salmon eggs or salmon in general will make your fish into porkers. and as stated the mackeral will be oily, so stay away from it. talapia and other whitefish are great for piranhas.

mine like carp and roach i catch from fishing quaranteen them first and its free except for the rod license of course

they eat poultry in the wild from time to time .. and will eat the game that does not make it thru the water ...

i would say you could use just about anything .. just not as a staple .. but if you had some left over chicken or goose or whatever .. it could go in there as a treat ..
