one or two pounds shrimp, pound of tuna or sword fish,1/2 pound scallops. One or two large green and yellow zucchini, pound frozen peas (I use a brand called Organic no salt) ,frozen green beans (no salt), pound of carrots. Steam carrotstill soft. I skin the carrots prior to steaming. Skin zucchinis while carotts cook. I skin them to rid them of anything in or on the skin. Whien carrots are done steam the other veggies. You will need a large bowl to put veggies in prior to mixing and a second to to put all processed food in. The shrimp I have both shelled it and not shelled it. In the wild they eat shells and all. I do not know if the shell has any benefit. I have found small shell pieces in tank on water change day, only a very small amount. Once every thing is cooked You will start processing the foods. I start with the meats. You can use a food processor or blender. My wife mad me get my own to do the fish food. You will need to grind the meats to a thick paste. After the food is ground move it to a large bowl that will hold all the foods and allows you to evenly mix the together. The veggies will grround like baby food. I pour off any extra water prior to grinding. At this point everything is grond up with no large pieces. IKt is all in one large bowl I start to mix it up. I also add nutrarose astaxanthan powder and pure spirulina powder . I also take a clove of garlic and press it in to the mix. This I only add a tea spoon or two. I get these from Kensfish.com under specialty foods. I also add the gelatin at this time. The gelatin does not set quickly you will not feel any change as you mix it in. I eye ball this and may use more than is needed to get the job done. Iuse about three 1/4 oz packs. Now comes the messy part , I look like monkey on crack doing ths part. You will need zip lock bags I use quart size. You will spoon the mix in to the bagwith out getting it in your hair and all over everything. Once you have what you think is enough lay flat squeezing out the air. Then zip up move on to the next bag. Once all bags are full flat and with no air lay them in the freezer. To feed break off apiece and toss in the tank. What I do is (my bags of food are a little thicker than most because of the size of my fish ) take the block and break it up into feeding size and put in freezer safe tupper ware. When I feed I remove a piece and allow it to defrost than toss it in the tank. The Oscar, silver dollars, and the synspilum love it pike not as much he likes pellets. A word to the wise the first time you may want to send the wife out in case of an accident. Sounds lie alot of money but its not food lasts long time acually cheaper than pellets. You can get a cheap blender or food prosser for give or take $30 Depending on the size of fish add or sutract as needed and put as much food in the bag as you see fit. Little fish thin bag of food for easy breaking off of food bigger fish mor food.
