I have several sheets of plate glass and want to cut up some glass lids. I understand how its done but don't understand how to smooth out the sharp edges afterward. Do you need a special grinding disk for this or are there other methods? I have metal files, sand paper, cutting disks ect. at my disposal. Can it be done with any of these?

Google has the answer.

Use fine sandpaper or even better, a sharpening stone, to remove the sharp edge. This edge will be where the vertical edge meets the horizontal surfaces. Not only does sanding reduce the chances of your being cut but sanded glass is less likely to chip along the edges and has some added strength.

good luck.
