Ok Im terrible at diy things, however I'm about to start on a major project, the first one beginning with getting new lights. I'd like to make a hanging light fixture out of the emt conduit bars, however here is my dillema. The piping is 10ft and the area I'd like the bar to hang the light at is at 5 ft. I was thinking about bending the bar into a n of sorts and putting it over my tank so that i wouldn't have to make a stand. However with only 10 ft I dont think this is possible. Any ideas on how I could use the emt to hang the lights, i havn't bought anything, just in the planning stage. I'm on a bit of a budget as well. The alternative is to just make an L thats 5 ft tall and try to tie it to my stand and see if it will support the shoplights, but that would be off balance.

Make two upside down L shapes and attach them to the back of the stand. Use cables to suspend the fixture at the desired height.

That is a much better idea than I had. Do you think they would be stable enough if i tied them to the back of my stand with some bungie cord or something, or would i need a stand for the emt fixture?

Use the u-shape nail on pipe/EMT clamps to attach the EMT to rear of stand. You'll need two clamps for each arm. Or you could attach 2 vertical pieces of pipe with end caps )on the bottom) to the rear of the stand. That way you can slip the EMT arm brackets into them. Be sure to test fit your EMT brackets to be sure they will slide into your vertical support brackets.
Bungie cords aren't reliable.
