I recently setup a tank with TSC Black diamond sand.
I rinsed it thoroughly, But did not bleach it, Or boil it.
Plus the location of the tank was near a window didn't help.
The result was algae blooms out the roof!
Well, I treated the algae, But clearing the water up. was
a bit more than I expected. There is fry in the tank, So
I needed to do this slowly. Without killing any of the fry.

I had this pond pump, That I bought for a hydroponic unit
I'm making. And thought about making a filter out of it.
It works great! It's a 500GPH pump, But I valve it down considerable.
I cut a hole in a glad food storage container, For the pump to come through.
Drilled holes in the top lid. A filled it with poly fill matting.
Hope this may help someone else out.
