Can anybody recommend an hob sump/refugium/breeder box over the 1 gallon range for under 100$? I've found one for a gallon and another for a half gallon for 40$. It doesn't have to come with pump or lights just the tank. MUST BE HANG ON BACK! IMPORTANT!!!
diy ideas? Suggestions? Could I just get a 5 gallon Tupperware container and make it hob? How do I do this?!! Never done a diy thing b4 save some failed water bottle fish traps lol. And I did recycle them afterwards. :)
PS to mods: I know I've posted this multiple times. IM DESPERATE!! LOL I just opened a bank account on Saturday and I'm 14 so as mr. Krabbs says: money money money money money

Would this work for an hob refugium? Its approximately 4.5 gallons. I was gonna use this as an hob breeder box/refugium for my 55 gallon Aquarium.
How would I get an overflow/inlet water tubing in? How would I install clamps? Some help would be appreciated

You could make one out of an aquaclear 110 casing and u tube. If you look around you can pick up the case for about 21 bucks and the u tube for 4-15 bucks. plug off the the hole where the motor used to go. Start the siphon with some air hose and use some plastic hook and loop mat or a sponge to stop the fry from swimming back into the main tank.

Those rubbermaid tubs like in the picture are soft and flex even if you managed to hang it on the back I wouldnt trust it. Look for a more rigid casing.

I used to use a 25 gallon trash can and about 10 pounds of java moss as a breeder tank under my 55 gallons stand.

Clamping something that big to the back of a tank could be difficult. Once that is filled with water it will be heavy, so it would need to be supported from underneath so the box doesn't warp under the weight. Have you considered having the box sit on top of the tank if the canopy will support it? If you have a power head and a hose all you need then is a clean way to overflow/drip through back into the tank and you're golden.
