DIY hood, post your pics here and tell your method

i used 2x2s in the 4 corners and 1x3s/1x4s for the outside, the top was a 1x12 and 1x8. it's for a 100g. 6x18x18. the rear was just a strip of 1/4 ply and 1x3. a small piece of scrap 3/4 may be put on the inside,where it rests on the tank, to support the center. more pics are in my album

How do you hinge your lid?
 
Hey ttmf, That is beautiful. How did you build the doors ? Do you have more construction photos ? Either you are a cabinetmaker by profession or you fake it really well. With enough photos that would make a great DIY thread all by itself.

ttmf, that is amazing...

my boyfriend reconstructed a 93 gallon tank for me for my birthday and we did a make-shift lid/hood on it with just some sliding glass and wood as a frame for it. does not even compare to that masterpiece... wow... ours looks like crap next to that!
