Dam, that looks cool. Too bad my wife shot the idea down before I was even done telling her about it :-(

My teacher made this for our marine biology class its really neat and it works well too!

Very cool...

I bet with some kick ass LED lighting you can really make jelly fish pop!!

Cool. Did the jellyfish live to their typical ages?

That's my plan if I get to do this build; I was thinking of putting actinic blue LEDs under the aquarium.

Curious: Why can't you just put them in a regular fish tank? Is there a significance to the shape of that one beside aesthetics?

I should clarify: Is it not possible to make a jellyfish-safe habitat out of a regular tank so they don't get sucked up and stuff?

I wondered this also, and I researched it. I do believe it's possible, but I'm not sure exactly how it's done. I found a site while looking it up that offers a rectangular tank which I think looks a lot nicer but it's a bit more expensive. It's also less "fluffy" to me, when it's giving jelly care info, so I think I like this company better. Here's the link http://www.moonjellyfish.com/products/eon-jellyfish-system

And here is another site I found, that offers a lot more options, I haven't had the time to go through the info on this one. Again, they get pretty pricey...

Jellyfish need water circuluation that flows upwards to make them be able to get lifted off the bottom of the aquarium. Also you need a tank without corners because jellies are notorious for getting stuck in corners and dieing. You can use a regular tank but you need to modify it so it doesnt have any corners. Round or oval tanks are ideal for jellies

nice find but remember jellies are extremely delicate and most will die off upon shipping and when you do get them be careful as there like a wet tissue when transporting from bag to tank.
