To all. the other day i traded a tiny jack dempesy in for 2 barramundi of 5 cm in length and he gave me 2 boxes of fish pellets(what a sweet deal). i then put them in my tank and thaught i should make it look better. across my road the is a clearing of trees. i grabbed some wood and decided id clean them. i hosed the dirt of and began to scrub with a wire bruch. i rinsed the crap off and put them in my pond for a day. they were sinking. i then poured boiling water over them to clean them. i put in my tank. next morning the water went yellow like some one pissed in it. it turns out i should have left them for a week to drain the wood juices out. its not harmful to the fish but can make your tank look dirty. also dont use pine. i read up on that before i went looking. if u use it you really want a tank looking like clumpy honey. lol:popcorn:
peace.

lol theyre called tannins. do a search on google. i like the tint they give ponds. peeish, beerish. make sure not to use cedar. next time, take the wood, drop it in some water and do constant small water changes until it stops leeching tannins.

yeah so they wont kill things? looks rather brackish lol i love my barras

the color isnt going to kill anything. it will go away after a ton of water changes.
