heres what you need for this project:

If you put a small rubbermaid (like a shoebox size one) on the top of the tank, drill a hole or two in the bottom of the rubbermaid, and fill it with fluff, media, etc. you can greatly increase the usefullness of such a filter.

Good job, Good idea...You know what they say about new ideas, right?

Been using those for 35+ yrs tho :D. I think there are some other posts like it on here too. Use pvc pipe and a cap so the MONSTERS don't break it.

Biggest problem is the pump gets dirty, even if you use a pre-filter (to keep out the fry) if you mount the filter before the pump and draw thru the filter it works better.

dogofwar's idea works good too if you don't mind having stuff on top of the tank.

haha i made it for my small 0.9G+ breeding tank
i have added a longer tube and had the test tube in it so filtered water will flow down and create some bubbles
