diy moon lights help

i picked up 5 cold cathode lights on ebay, and got an old 5v charger
but i cant get them to light up, do i need a ballast or somthing?

i need some help, i can not get them to work, what am i missing?

very cheap.... and yes u need ballasts these come with them and a switch
look in case modding
ul need a good 12v DC power source to get them going but 9V will do the trick

Dang wish it would hurry up and get dark, just got in my CCFL kit and got it hooked up with a 13v 5 amp powersupply. You guys are awsome I didn't even know what a moon light was, a trip to micro center and grabbed a dual 12" CCFL kit and used an old power supply I had from my RC car days.
 
cold cathod needs at least 600 volts to even light

Thats what the transformer is for. they only need a couple volts DC and a good amp draw.
