Diy moving bed media

I just curios if i can use tile spacers for a moving bed filter they r make with plastic and have some space for the bacteria grow inside of the spacer here some pictures

Like kaldnes, theoretically. I used kaldnes k1 and a 55 gal to create my moving bed filter.

Yes like kaldnes just the tile spacer is (t )and keldnes is round

Kaldness has a specific shape for maximum surface area and a specific density (slightly positively buoyant) to allow it to fluidize and boil properly once the thin film has coated the media. Tile spacers will not be the same.

if I was going to try it, I'd use the + shaped, bottom left of the pic with the blue background.
