hey guys, my first time building any aquarium at all and wondering if anyone here has built an aquarium thats about 20gal. in the past and could give me advice or blueprints.
Any help is appreciated
"slap together a few pieces of glass" There is no just slapping together. To properly construct a glass tank, even just a 20g, you should be looking at 2-4 hours to save $5. Just buy a tank....
Jfitz What are you looking to put in the tank? you can get a full 10 gallon set up at Walmart for $40 if you don't have anything at all thats the best deal for a small setup around here... otherwise I could prob help you out with just a tank
Price the glass locally, form a glazier or find some recycled glass and learn to cut it yourself. You may be able to get the glass for free and after cut you'll just need some alcohol to clean the glass and a tube or two of silicone to seal with, so you've got $10-$12US. So with some prudent shopping it's not bad. I've picked up glass shelving for free and made all sorts of custom tanks for near free (just the cost of silicone and I've gotten that for free from friends in construction too).
The experience is worth the cost, since I'm sure like the others on here you can already spend money.
