my diy over flow is working really bad.

it is 3/4 inch and only 1/10th of the pipe is only full

the pump is only pumping about 300 litres per hour and it cant even nearly keep up

however, to prime it i am simply blocking the overfllow vent and sucking the end to create a syphon, then unblock the vent.

what can be used as "G" in the second diagram on this page?

please help!!!!

It is a vacuum check valve (see below) Found this one at U.S. Plastics. ou will use this to get all the air out of the overflow.

Hope this helps.

It is a one-way valve. That way you can suck air out without letting it back in.

Mine is glued in place with epoxy resin, but a lot of people use silicone sealant so that they can replace it if it malfunctions.

Exactly.

ah ok, i understand, i will try that but i have a feeling that my over flow is just plain wrong and will never work... this is so frustrating and has actually become upsetting... :-(

i'll post pics tonite....

well, to be honest my whole diy sump looks horrible, it is slightly noisy, and if i was gonna pay for for a new of i think id rather get a normal filter....

and it's only for a 100l tank!!!!

i'm on a very small buget tho...... :-(
