my friend told me that u coudl use a powerhead to use as the pump and i have a strong ass powerhead so im planning to use that but i was just wondering how do u make a sump out o a rubbermaid tub. i saw it be4 but never looked at the inside or anything. thanks

Use one of the flastic drawer from walmart or target, thats what I did, but i didnt use a rubbermaid since it was gonna overflow, if the pump went out the water will just keep flowing.

Here is mine at the bottom of this thread. How big of a tank are you filtering? How strong is the powerhead? You want to put it in the powerhead in the sump to pump it back into the tank? I've never used a powerhead for anything, but It doesn't seem like it would have much head power. You'll probably wont be able to have your sump too far beneath your tank. My mag9.5 only cost $70.

Very nice pvc work Roy. Especially putting them in line like that. Do you have your return split, or two pumps?

I didn't want to try the drawers for 2 reasons... They wouldn't fit under the top of my sump and it seemed like the gaps in the drawer and the frame would cause the water to splash out all over the place.

I think I have sufficient anaerobic bacteria. My sump is for aerobic bacteria. The biomedia in my sump is not submerged.

my tank is 100 gallons and the powerhead is pretty strong not sure about what gph.
