I just want opinions and spit balls as to design, filter media and sizing.

Look at mine on here. It's in diy filters category. Do the same thing but on a smaller scale. Can be used with a power head a pump or a canister filter.
I have 2 canisters. It was a design I used because even if one breaks down I'm still utilizing all the media. Just less flow. The canisters house the mechanical filtration and the overhead filter holds the bio media. For a 6' piece for my 120 gallon it was just under $30. I have mine filled with 3.5 gallons of bioballs

Dude that is awesome I was thinking about doing something similar to that just in a different color, just for aesthetics and that of course.
Dumb question think i can used in a fluidized situation or just stick with the norm ceramic or bio balls?
I think if you ran a good amount of air to the tube there's no reason why not. I debated trying it with k1 media.
