I saw a stack of pallets in front of a business just up the road from my house, and above them was a sign reading "Free!" I can hardly ever pass up free, so I started brainstorming what I might do with a stack of pallets, and then it hit me; Patio furniture! I've been needing/wanting a table and chairs for my back patio for over a year, but didn't want to drop a couple hundred bucks on it, so I decided I would build my own! Here are the photos.

The raw material:

Turning it into a stack of lumber:

I gave up on the hammer and pry bar after a couple pallets. I moved on to the reciprocating saw to just cut through the nails. Much easier!
What once was a stack of pallets is now a pile of lumber:

The center of the tabletop. It's going to be a hexagonal table:

Making progress:

All pieces cut and test-fitted:

Now we need some framework to hold it together. I call this "the spider."

Here are the pieces all nailed to the spider. All that moisture is sweat. SC in July is one hot, humid mofo.

This square will center the table on the base.

And here's the base. It's currently upside-down. I'm going to add a baseboard around the outside of the slats, but I had to call it a night. I was about to pass out from the heat.

Here's the top sitting on the base!

A different view:

And some detail. Gotta get my artsy shot in somewhere. ;)

That's it for now! The chairs are next.
So far, I'm into this project for about 17 bucks. My budget is 30 dollars for the table and four to six chairs. :D

When the temperature dropped under 90 degrees today, I decided it was time to make a chair!
These are the back legs/backrest frames. The upper notch is mostly decorational. The lower notch is for the seat frame.

Side seat rails test-fitted. One notched for front leg, one not.

One side assembled.

Both sides assembled and center sections installed. *Design element* Check out the fork notches in the center frames. :)

Seat and backrest installed. One chair complete. I need to find more pallets now. I don't have enough wood to make another frame. Got a whole bunch of slats for seats and backrests, though.

There we have it. This took about two hours from design brainstorm to completion. The others should go much more quickly now that the design portion is done.

Made another piece of pallet furniture today. I had to whip up a little table/stand for some A/V equipment. Unfortunately, I didn't take any build pics because I was fairly pressed for time. Here's the finished product, though. This was about three hours from start to finish. Design sort of went on the fly.

This would probably look a little more at-home in a log cabin or something rather than my house, but it's not a bad-looking piece in my opinion.

Wow to make the table that quick with all those angles, your good at that Mr. Handyman if you were local i could get ya as many pallets you would ever want geez, i could get enough for you to build a house probally ha ha!!!!!!

Nice dude! You should stain your home made entertainment center black:)

Nice work seriously but I dont think Id want that in my house. THose things are crazy flammable, I dont know what oil or whatever they're coated with but they burn quick

nice I love doing reclaimed wood projects, should post a pic of my full wall shelf I built out of old decking
