i was thinking of making a Plywood cage for bd but i don't know if i should use glass for the frount porsion or chicken wire. right now i'm looking for cheap way i may upgrade it later if i don't move him. and what size whould be best for for life.

i would go with glass, and then lay down tile for the floor. or just a glass front and the other 3 sides plywood, chicken wire looks cheap and i am sure they can climb it.

ok thanks. is it better for the bd if i put tile; beacuse i like sand better. and size tank would be good for life.

you could use sand, but it really is dirty IMO, and dust is everywere, the tile has a very nice clean look to it, and you can really wash it down and clean it good when you need to. i have LG'S, i would make a nice sized plywood cage, you dont even need a glass front or top if the walls are high enough, a couple of heat/ray lights hanging from the celing/wall and you have a BD show tank.

ok thanks

what would a big tank be like 3feet or 4feet? also how would i seal the tank together(woodclue nails).

I used to breed dragons so chime in here. I would use a nonporous floor, whether you use sand or not. Dragons will get runny crap & it will soak into the floor and stink will accumulate. Don't let them get Cocsidia (sp?), you'll be buying a respirator to enter the room. LOL

You can use Formica, linoleum, etc. Trust me on this,, spend the extra $20 - $50. You and anyone who comes to your house will be much happier,, not to mention the Dragon.

Ohh,, size. How big is your dragon now? I would step up the size of cage as it grows but as far as "for life" I wouldn't put an adult in anything smaller than a 40gl. breeder. I think they are about 3ft. X 2ft. You could even put a pair in that size but have another ready incase they need to be separated. A horny male will have his way with the ladies, whether they want to or not (major stress for the female).

I've moved this thread here as it will get a better response. I also wouldn't use chicken wire.
