Will this work!! lol... I have some questions the return to water fall is elevated will the water go up it, or will it just fill up and overflow the trash can.. Feel free to drop some editing suggestions.

MFK please tell me if this would work. I would move the outflow to the top of the trashcan after futher research

Seems like a few others I have seen.

Only thing I see that MIGHT be of concern is the lack of drip plate, and the location of the outflow.

The reason I say it COULD be a problem, is the water could channel and flow all in one or two spots. Then because of how low the outflow is, the water could leave the the main biomedia dry, leaving you with only the lava rocks.

This is just my thought, but give it a try at worse you have just bought a new trash can for you to use at home.
