Hey guys, just wanted to post something i have been working on, now beforehand, i know this idea has been done many times before with water bottles and pvc, etc However most of those are ugly and i wanted to make a water bottle filter attachment that would look clean and neat because we put to much time into this hobby to have a poland spring water just sitting in plain sight, lol anyhoo.... i found that the large plastic Voss water bottles are great and have a nice sleek profile to them, plus the caps are perfect... i basically cut the top off one and the bottom off the other, i attached the 2 of them together with hot glue , used one of the caps as the “intake” and one cap i cut to fit like a cuff where the 2 bottles meet to keep the lines clean and hide the joint.... the other bottles cap serves as the intake at the bottom sitting on substrate, with 8 holes drilled into the bottle neck itself than the cap screwed on over them, the cap also serves as a flow valve and gives a nice 2-3 inch lip off the substrate (not to suck in sand.. this thing is big... 24 inches long without power head... you can cut to your tanks desired height) the bottles act like 2 chambers, and in the middle i cut a notch out behind the cuff to allow auction in case the main intake gets blocked, the top chamber has bio pads so i want them to get steady flowi was able to fit a AC110 carbon, and marineland prefilter in 1 bottle, and 4 FX bio pads cut to fit bottle shape in the other... honestly i could’ve fit a full AC110 media setup (foam, bio, carbon just to give an idea of how much this holds ) but that’s not the media i wanted to use... the final product i have hooked up to a 360gph powerhead which you can go bigger if needed.. 81FB0FFB-D9DB-4153-B2D4-6F154EF02213.jpegA76A7898-CC62-48ED-A2B2-2221C177D050.jpeg048432DB-BAD8-4C63-9AD1-BBA8EBE628FB.jpeg6F89F0E2-83B8-4F93-A547-68F346A980A2.jpeg4D3F7099-3844-41DE-97EC-55CDC4C08757.jpeg3DC2147C-6A02-4B67-8988-650662F18645.jpeg8A627000-6C05-47AA-9F89-F697DB4556CF.jpeg
