So I want to make a basic protein skimmer for my current saltwater setup. I have a 55 gallon fowlr tank. I have seen the 20oz and 2ltr bottle skimmer in action and they appear to work just fine as far as function but no one has commented or reported on it's effectiveness. Do they actually skim enough to be effective? I was wounding if a simple skimmer could effectively reduce organic waist levels in a 55 gallon tank. I have no sump I run overkill hang on filters full of rock sponge and biospheres as well as 65lbs of live rock in the tank. I do 10% water changes every 4 days. I want my phosphates to drop below .04 it's at .06 Will even a 2 liter sized intank skimmer help with this.
