I need some ideas on doing a large DIY skimmer. For a 1,617 gallon shark pond.

Bump!!

Lol... Its funny to see now that im a crayfish for all the post numbers. When you own crayfish...

shark pond probably means saltwater:D
i would think for something that big a series of simmers would be your best bet, but not in circuit, parrallel.
put an airstone at the bottom of a two litre with a siphon from the tank into it with a pin valve and then an overflow with a valve going to your sump:ROFL:

ok i'm done. in sump? stand alone?

The concept of them is pretty simple. I can get some pics of the big arse skimmer at my place....... Should be able to easily DIY a replica.

Do you allready have a pump?

I would have to get a pump. But Ive done smaller skimmers 55 gallons and lower. But nothing this big.

Snag that pump Miles has for sale in the classifieds..... That would be perfect if you want to mimic the skimmer I have.

Couldn't find the post....

Why don't you just replicate the skimmer you made for your 55 gallon, but just scale it to size for your pond? It shouldn't be that hard, right? Or am I missing something...?
