Well I am going to be building a new tank and want to try this out. This will be for saltwater tank but all the other forums have not been much help. With all this MASSIVE tanks that are built I think you guys will be able to help me on choosing a sealant.

I am using a 1" Type 1 PVC board for the bottom of my tank. I will be using a rabbet router bit to route out 1/2" down and over to fit 1/2" glass for the sides. This will give it more room to bond also.

My big issue is what DOW or silicon to use. Some people have said use the DOW 795 and make sure to cure for over a month. Can you guys recommend any others or will DOW 795 do the job?

Thanks in advance! You guys have some AWESOME systems on here

silicone does not bond well to PVC. I used to build PVC enclosures for my snakes. We always used PVC cement for it and it worked great. I also dont think that PVC will be strong enough to be the bottom of an aquarium. Even at 1" theres still some flex. Is there a reason you wanted to use it?

I understand that most silicon wont work. That is why I am asking on here if anyone could recommend what to use. There is a guy on another forums that has done this with DOW 795.

The PVC is 100x stronger than the glass bottom. It wont crack, break, shatter. Easy to drill.

Anyone else?

before anyone makes recommendations, what are the dimensions of the tank?

DOW 795 seems as though it should work as it is listed as adhering to both glass and plastic.
