Could anyone help me find a couple articles on diy box style overflows?

I also was gonna try and make a DIY UV sterilizer to help with my algae problem. I got a wicked outbreak of hair algae >:-( thats what I get for throwing plants in my tank straight for the store I suppose. My local hardware store has a UV wand sterilizer on sale for $15 Im building a sump right now if I blacked out my filter floss compartment and cut a hole in the lid for the uv would that have enough contact with the uv light?

The above is what I made mine out of.
Have to be careful with any mods to it, as the plastic is very easy to crack.
Dilled a hole for an 1 1/2" bulkead fitting in the bottom of the Large Size bagger.
Either buy some "U" tubes or make them out of PVC.

On the UV, watts X flow= amounts of Death Dealing your light will do.
For Kill-em-all, I think the formula was 1 watt per 10 gph.

What are the chances we could see a picture.
Thanks

A picture would be cool. I was thinking about buying a piece of plastic hard tube from the lfs and using my propane torch to bend it into a nice clear u tube. Holding it far away from the heat source of course.
