DIY REEF LIGHTING?

Hey I was wondering if it would possible to purchase two shop light systems with 2x40 watt bulbs each and electronic ballasts and then over driving each bulb to increase the bulbs wattage by 1.75. Do you think this is possible, heres a link on over driving the lights http://www.aquariumlife.net/projects...ighting/47.asp

If i do this over my 55 gallon tank do you think I would be able to support corals?

Would be easyer just to buy some 4 bulb T5 HO retrofits. then you know you can support corals. and "over driving" bulbs sounds dangerous.

Ya but retro fits are still fairly expensive and I could do my whole set up for about 50 bucks...If you know anywhere where i could get cheap t5 retro's that would be greatly appreciated...

doesnt sound good to me
changing things like this always gives the chance of catistrophic failure.
altering a ballast in a way that puts out more watts than it is designed to do will void the warranty, heat the ballast and lights more than they are rated for and significantly lessen the life of the products, not to metion the fire hazzard.
