I picked up a large tank today from craigslist measuring 72in X 19in X 29in. The Tank was free :nilly: because it leaks . The previous owner suggested that I reseal the entire tank because it leaked and ruined their basement. I have never attempted to reseal a tank before. Any suggestions as to how to go about resealing this tank would be greatly appreciated 2011-07-09 16.30.09.jpg2011-07-09 16.30.02.jpg:)

i know how it feels man...i just bought a 220 off Cl thursday--
took it home filled it last night, and it separated the glass....so i'm trying to reseal mine too...good luck : / we both need it

You must not cut in coroners in scraping away any old sealant. Second after that is completed you must make sure the glass is spotless. Absolutely no dirt. Make sure it is completely dry and then you are prepared to reseal.

There are many good threads about resealing a tank on this forum. I have posted a few as have others. Lets us know if you can not find them with a search. No real point in reading my posts if you are not going to reseal the whole tank as i have found partial seal jobs to not work very well.

After further inspection the inner seal (between the glass sections) must also be redone. Every thread that I have read says stay away from doing that. Is this something that I should try do myself, or would it be better to try to find someone who builds tanks professionally?

Even tearing down completely for a busted seam is not that hard. Just build some jigs to support the glass as your putting the tank back together
