to every one out there who has a DIY rubbermaid sump. I was wondering how u guys install the baffles? How do you secure the baffles to the containers walls? The container is so flimsy bows out when filled. Even if the top was secured the sides would still bow out.

I thought mabye epoxy coated plywood use screws to secure plywood then seal the seam of plastic and epoxyed wood with pond armor. Just throwin that out there not sure if it would work it seems to complicated.

Any advice would be awsome

Thanks in advance

I use this one, it doesn't bow at all really. It's not just a single flimsy side though, it has ribs which add reinforcement. I have media trays the water passes through that I made out of smaller containers. It fills one entire side of the sump. Some water spills over the edges inside but most passes through the media containers. I feel this is good enough and much easier than trying to set it up like a typical glass sump. A lot of people use those stacked drawer deals in them to hold media as well.

Yea man people like me who usually use these plastic sumps have drawer stacks. You know the storage towers with mulitple drawers, they each act as a baffle but more of a bio tower. Drill holes in the bottom trays for drip trays.

The post above is very true, make sure to find a sturdy ribbed bin. Homedepo quality, not walmart. The drawer system can be purchased fro 12$ at walmart.
