Ok so I just Aquired a tank I measured it and it turns out to be actually a 120 Gallon tank. the stand that came with it though nice does not fit in to my decor in my house. so I was gonna use a 30 Gallon tank for the sump but then thought why not build a sump out of wood it would be great practice for m next tank which I want to build at about 500 Gallons. so here is my plan I have a couple sheets of 3/4" Plywood and 1 sheet of 1/4" Oak. as the tank dimentions (outside) are 48"Lx 20"DX 36"T a figured I would make the stand that is 48"LX 24"DX 36" tall creating a hight of 6' (plus canopy) the sump tank will be 24" tall creating a holding capacity of 120G ( this was a bit planning a bit luck so the sum can be used for the 500G in the future. there will be a center divider at 24" 1/2" off the bottom. I will use plastic egg crate in the one side to hold the media off the bottom. As a biomedia I plan to use pot scrubbies. I have a case of Biomax for my AC110 I plan on putting in also. above the scrubbies I plan to put in Carbon I have a case of it from my AC110 as well. I am going to put a layer of Batting above that and a layer of scouring pads as a prefilter. I have considered using large filter socks as a prefilter we have them at work they are 6"diameter and 3' long and are 25 micron. any thoughts on this as a setup would be appreciated has anyone else done a wooden sump?
