Pingree Grove, IL.
I am almost done building a stand for my 46g bowfront. The stand is also designed to fit a 30g...but will only have a 10g there in the immediate future.

I would like to add wheels as I have a bad back, and my wife never likes where I want to put my tanks.

I looked at some that will carry 750 pound load, but they are huge and bulky. They will also raise the stand 5".

There are some other smaller wheels that will carry 300lbs.

Will the weight be evenly distributed over 4, or will all 4 wheels carry the full weight of the load?

Hello; Not sure of the smaller size of wheels rated for the weight, but you should also consider getting a solid wheel. Perhaps a solid metal wheel. The wheels with plastic tires may have a tendency to form flat spots on the bottom when allowed to sit with a lot of weight in one place. You may get away with a metal wheel with a thin plastic layer on the outer circumference.

Thanks! You're my first MFK reply!

Don't know why I have it in my head that I want wheels...
I could probably just use those floor slides they advertise on late night tv

All I can say is wheels and tanks is a recipe for disaster. Not to be a jerk but one little bump and the whole things either gonna fall over or Atleast just slosh water everywhere. Just my opinion

if your worried about the wheels being too big, get some wood that matches the color and cover the wheels like a drape. and i would add an extra wheel in the middle maybe for support? i dont know but whatever you do, good luck

Hello; Two thoughts. First, the larger the diameter wheels will roll over things somewhat easier than small wheels. Second, the stand pictured appears to be made of wood. In thinking of how to attach wheels to such a stand I have not come up with any good ideas. Each avenue leads to uneven stresses and the likely hood of failure at the attachment points. I can envision a metal carrage on which the stand can sit with strong wheels attached to the metal frame of the carrage.
Sounds like a risky adventure, but if you proceede please keep us posted.

I probably will not go with wheels. Although, I like the idea of a steel carrage that I can attach the wheels to, and then attach that to the base of the stand.
I have some carpentry skills, but I don't think I could fabricate steel.

Every thing is square and level. I don't think I want to mess around, and jeopardize that.

It looks like I might just put those sliders underneath in case I have to access the back for some reason.

Thanks for all the insights!

Coming along...but still thinking about getting something????
The 46gl will go on top, and the second shelf will only hold a 20 gallon long. But it should be fun.
