Hey guys. Hey this is my first post. I have a 45 gallon, and I need a stand and want to build a simple one, no doors or shelves. How much wood would I need? Of what sizes? What building supplies do I need? What should I paint it with? Thanks!
Uhhm i dont rmember the dimensions. Its an average 45 gal tank. Uhhm, I dont really care about the height, maby 3-4 feet? I dont know, ive never done this before. Nah I dont want to do conrete blocks. I want a simple, but wooden stand.
You can easily construct a basic stand from 2x4's or being as this is a smaller build, you can get away with 1x2's too.
Construct a basic frame for the tank to sit on, 36 1/2" long by 13", and put one cross bar in the middle. Do the same for the bottom of the stand(mirror the top). Connect these with uprights that are the same height as your wanting the stand to be. Install these uprights into the inside of the 2 frames and add a couple uprights to the sides too for even more stability.
I did this on a bigger scale for my 90 gallon, 4' x 18" footprint using 2x6's.
