Hi guys,
Well, I'm having a crap week hobby wise. First I lost a jardini and now I get this.
A little bit of back story, I was supposed to be receiving a custom tank that was 52 inches long, 24 inches wide, and 24 inches tall - well long story short the person putting it together for me had some stuff come up and needs a few months before he can complete it.
I had built a stand for it a few weeks back; I followed the plans from Uaru Joey on Youtube. Since my tank wasn't going to be ready any time soon I decided to throw my 60 gallon on there for the time being. I had it off center of the middle and everything was fine until I found one of the beams on the inside of the stand that screwed into the legs cracked. As a quick fix, I wedge two 2x4's underneath the cracked beam just in case. So not only did I lose a Jardini, but I have a compromised tank stand. Thankfully nothing gave out and everything is holding together. I plan on pulling the thing apart, and starting from scratch this Friday.
I am curious though - did it sheer because of where I placed the tank? Essentially overloading that piece of wood or joint? Or could it just have been a poor piece of wood? One piece cracked so Im leaning toward bad wood but I wanted to confer with the community before I got the thing torn down. My plan is to get everything (2 dats and 3 small bichirs into my temporary 40 gallon)
Any help is appreciated it guys!
