i recently built a wood stand for my 75g tank...however not all the 2x4s were cut evenly. Those were cut for the legs on the stand being a total of 10 legs. There are about 4 pieces that were about a quarter inch (if not less) longer than the rest. Will this affect the tanks stability? Will screwing the 10 legs to a wood board help?

For a 75 I would use just 4 legs, any more is just overkill. Most commercially built stands are made of MDF or OSB.

Most store bought stands are MDF, or osb with melamine covering, and for a 75 gal, they use 1/2 inch. 10 2x4 is way overkill. I am a custom cabinet builder and I use 3/4 melamine board. For me it is cheap....FREE. You could always take the legs off and recut them by about 1/4 inch too.

either cut, or sand the longer ones down.... OR
depending on how bad it use, just tack some shims into place...

This my stand for my 60 Gal. It has 8 legs, but the 4 in the middle were really only for making the cabinet/shelves area. I just thought if i was going to put them in might as well make them go all the way to the floor. This is way overkill, but I manage a truss plant so machine rated 2x4 is easy to come by. Like i told my brother "I could park my jeep on top of this thing" :grinyes:

BTW, just to add to the overkill :screwy: the top is 1 1/8 T&G flooring :naughty:
