Hello

For a sump system does it involve any electrical motors
to pump the water into and out of the tank?

Can I use a plexi glass to divide scubbier/bio from the open side of the sump
and other question and advice will be well consinderated

most sumps that I have seen are gravity fed from the tank to the sump and at the end of the sump passed all the filter media they have a section there with a pump to put the water back into the tank.

but make sure your pump can pump enough water so that your sump won't over flow from te water its gravity fed from the tank ... hope this helps ya some

Yea you can use Pvc tubing , and it does matter what size tubing you use , it all depends on size of the tank , how much water movement you want ... there is a Sticky about pipe sizing

i use 1" flexible clear pipe and my sump if gravity fed with 2 pumps returning the water to 2 bulkheads joined by a spray bar.
I recommend getting pumps with built in variable flow such as the maxi-jet range (very quiet) or the eheim compact range (very noisy). I use eheim but cant wait till they break so i can justify buying the much quieter maxi-jet ones. Built in flow control will save you money compared to manual ball valve flow control.

depends on your return size, im running 2 eheim compact 5000 on a built in overflow with 1.5" pipe and 2 x 1" returns. im running about 1000 gph as they are set to their lowest setting (660gph at 0' head) on my 150 in my sig.
i cannot set the pumps any higher as the oulet (1.5") pipe cannot keep up and the water level rises in the tank.
i would personally go with two maxijet 3200, depending on the outlet size of course.
i use one for waterchanges and its very quiet considering the amount of work its doing.

In most cases, an electrical submursable pump is used to pump the filtered (cleaned) water, from the sump, up a return tube of some type and into the aquarium.

Most hobbyists who use a wet/dry sump filtration system will use either an overflow box or an overflow tube to allow the natural flow of water to be sent to the sump from the aquarium. No motorized unit is used to remove water from the aquarium to the sump. The sump pump is used to return the filtered (cleaned) water from the sump filtration tank, back up to the aquarium.

In order to have the second portion of your question answered, it would help to redo your question, as it is not real clear as to what you are asking? Proper punctuation would help too. Thanks!
