DIY Sump Siphoning Plans

Ok, from what I understand I get my water to my sump the same way I get my water out during a water change, But I dont have any plans I saw one I liked. But I dont know the plans or how to build it. Any help would be gr8t. My tank will be a 30 gallon and the sump will be about 20gal. I dont want this thread to have 100 veiws and 4 posts back either by tonite. Here are the plansI saw that I liked. Anyone knw how to build them with detailed information.

Im going to build something like the bottom one. But i need help on how to make the part for the siphoning.

The "U" shaped siphon is used on a Hong On Back overflow. You would not need this if you have a DIY overflow.
